Here I'd like to make a brief talk on what catches up my interest in engineering lately. During the last 12 months I've been working on the following topics:
- robotics and mechatronic system
- advanced measurements method (including non-contact ones)
- virtual prototyping
- experimental mechanics
- technology forecasting
I've been luck enough during my Master of Science to meet open minded professor that funded a couple of my projects:
- for the mechatronic research field the OSHap project has been funded by prof. Monica Bordegoni (which I'd like to thank for the trust she had always reposed in me)
- for the measurement field I'm finishing my master thesis funded by the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, supervised by prof. Emanuele Zappa (which I'd like to thank for having introduced me in the wonderful science of vision systems and contact-less measurements)
After the Master of Science I've been selected for a PhD Course in Mechanical Engineering, research topic "Advanced Materials and Structures". I'm working with the "Measurements and experimental techniques" research group to develop innovative methodologies to measure stress, strain, forces and motion in smart structures (morphing, active sandwiches, SMAs..) and, more in general, high tech structures such as composites or superalloys.
The main goal of the activity is to support the investigation of smart structures damage phenomena with the help of full-field imaging techniques and, consequently, to develop feasible systems able to monitor their structural health.
